Used Bouremouth as a pit stop to Dorset. Beach closeby so perfect especially for an evening stroll. Been to Bourenmouth before so beach and other places wasn't a priority for me. Lovely place to unwind for a quick getaway.
Small Dorset town with one pub, a couple of cafes and some independent shops. The market on Monday is small but good bread, cheese, veg and plants
Milton Abbas is a quaint unusal village. When arrived having driven for miles through deserted country side arrived at Milton Abbas was like a twilight zone! A long street with white thatched cottages exactly the same size either side, a church post office and pub amongst woods! Pub is very good with a good varied menu. We ate steak, was dexter meat and very tender, lamb madras dorset lamb and very tender and tasty. Reasonably priced. Well worth a visit. If need somewhere to stay, choose woodland views a great, very friendly hosts Ayalia and John, comfy and great breakfast. Highly recommend.
The beautiful town Lyme Regis was our favourite. Fossil hunting in charmouth would recommend the tours. Lunch in bridport at The Bull hotel lovely Coastal walk from west bay breathtaking Beaches are clean Dorset is great to visit with children and your dog.
Easy to get to and from other parts of Dorset considering we didn't drive, e.g. we walked to Mudeford, took the bus to Bournemouth, Poole, Sandbanks. Great walks along the quay, generally people were friendly and welcoming, yet not intrusive. The Boathouse by the quay is a lovely and Thomas Tripp/Sea-food Shack great place to eat at great prices, and great staff. The "work-house" museum is a must see and all the volunteers there are doing a great job. It's just a lovely part of the world.
Visit to *Monkey world Dorset fantastic place to Visit eating and drinks even the gift shop is so so reasonable wonderful sancruary *Lulworth cove very pretty *places to eat and and have a drink Oscars bar and grill *ice cream at Marshfield most enjoyable be careful breaches are stones and hard to walk on in Sandals *Durdle Door beaches is a breath taking view from the top and once on the beach is stunning view however the walk down and back up to durdle door beach was very hard going very steep*
Lyme Regis is a nice seaside resort on the Dorset coast. It has both shingle and sand beaches, a very nice harbour area, a riverside walk, a good promenade by the seafront. There are many restaurants and bars. It lacks the tackiness of some other resorts. It is built on the hill coming down to the sea so getting around involves walking up and down some steep slopes.
A lovely ambience and plenty of eateries. There are a good selection of boutique stores too. It's a great location to explore Dorset too.
Loved Lulworth Cove, cycling near Corte Castle and visiting the castle. Well worth it. Enjoyed the Wimborne Folk Festival and the many beautiful walks in Dorset. Had a great experience Alpaca Walking, near Shaftesbury on the way to Bere Regis. Well worth a visit, kids would love it. Wendy was a great host and works extremely hard in coordinating visits in and out with these beautiful creatures. I think Wendy has under priced the Alpaca adventure as we would have paid doubled and we were treated to a cup of tea!
Excellent fine food Italian restaurant very near guest house. Good base we used to see Dorset. Nice bay We had very good weather which always helps. Good place to visit and stay. Pl entry of restaurants, pubs and places to see.
Wareham
Great atmosphere in a beautiful Dorset town. Had to leave before breakfast in order to catch a ferry in nearby Poole. The hotel made up a packed lunch for me the night before, which was a welcomed touch. The evening meal that I had in their resturant was really excelent and went down well after a long drive to get there. Highly recomend this Inn for its bedroom with a comfortable bed, ensuite shower room/wc and good selection of tea and coffee. This is actually my second stay at Anglebury House and it was again up to my expectations.
This hotel met every requirement for an enjoyable stay. The breakfasts were superb with a well-led out buffet. the dinners were good and the menu changed every night and there was an interesting wine list. The staff were very attentive. The bedrooms were comfortable with adequate drawers and furniture. There was a comfortable lounge with a bar and a small garden with a view over the coast, where one could sit. The hotel is a very convenient venue for anyone who wishes to explore the Dorset coast and the beautiful Dorset countryside
Dorchester
A serene haven in the heart of the Dorset countryside, offering a peaceful rest. The hosts were welcoming and the breakfast was one of the best we have ever had anywhere in the world. We loved our room, decorated in classic country style, with a beautiful bouquet of flowers from their graden completing the ambience. We particularly liked the hosts knowledge and love of the countryside, something that shone through in everything they did. We can definitely recommend this hotel to those looking for a true countryside experience.
Charmouth
The location and facilities were very good. The little shop by the reception was a bonus. We were surprised with the size of our glamping pod as inside it was bigger than it looked from the outside. The fish and chips at the local cafe were very tasty. We enjoyed it very much! The toilets/shower facilities were close enough to the pod. Unfortunately, we did not manage to use the swimming pool due to going on a few trips all over Dorset and Devon. The mattress was very comfy and the bedding was nice hotel quality.
Weymouth
We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Harlequin Guest House. The hotel's prime location near the beach and high street made it the perfect starting point for our exploration of Dorset. Mike, the owner, was incredibly polite and took the time to highlight the nearby attractions worth visiting. We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel, especially considering its remarkably affordable price, ideal location, and the attentive and friendly staff. Our stay here exceeded all expectations.
The apartment was beautifully presented on arrival. Directions to the property and access instructions were very good and simple. The property is located a short walk from the main areas of Lyme Regis and the Sea Front. The walk does entail a steepish hill but this should not challenge the able-bodied. The hot-tub, at the bottom of the garden, only a short walk from the entrance door, is a luxurious facility to be included. Nice touch - a lovely box of Dorset biscuits await your arrival.
Bridport
Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. Loved the thoughtful, considered decor and unobtrusive 'mod cons'. Particularly loved the choice of colour in our room, number 6, restful/elegant. The bed was super comfy. The breakfasts were delicious. We had the Dorset but I spied others being delivered avocado, poached eggs etc and cleaning their plates. In my opinion, the Bridge House is everything a small hotel should be.
Dorchester
We were very impressed with our stay and found the staff & facilities met our expectations, to include top marks for the monetary value of our stay. We will certainly stay again at this hotel when we next venture into Dorset. We loved learning about the history of the area and the reason why the hotel is called The Rivers Arms. We wish the owners the very best of fortune with their hotel.
Sherborne
Very well appointed apartment in a quite and tranquil setting. The apartment and fittings were in excellent condition and cleanliness. Ideally located for travelling around Dorset and Somerset. Can definitely recommend the Haynes Motor Museum. Our hosts were exceedingly nice (thank you John for indulging me in a chat about all things motor-racing!).
We loved the view from our room. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Staff friendly , great food. We loved the evening meal and great breakfast. The Hotel has bar and restaurant. Beach nearby, perfect location in Dorset countryside near to beach. Amazing views. Perfect relaxing break. 10/10
We had the weather on side because it was a lovely warm sunny weekend. Plus the views from the hotel across the English Channel coastline and Dorset was stunning 😍 Would recommend this hotel and Portland for a short visit or longer if you have the time, because it was beautiful 😍
The location was perfect for our evening at the Dorset Opera Festival. Reception, Bar and Restaurant staff were all excellent. The room was just what we wanted with comfortable beds. The food and drinks were both very good quality. My Daughter and I both loved The Crown Hotel.
Brand new modern, clean, spacious and comfortable hotel within driving distance of many lovely things to see and do in Dorset, lovely friendly staff and always on hand to help if needed, the meals including breakfast we had at the hotel were excellent with plenty of choice.
A welcoming, very friendly and well run hotel in a fantastic location. A very comfy room with an excellent breakfast. The perfect place to getaway to enjoy the peace and quiet of the beautiful Dorset coastline, with the hotel situated only a few minutes from the sea.
Blandford Forum
Perfect place to stay! We travelled down to Dorset with friends and we had a great time, its a beautiful apartment fantastically equipped. Hosts were in touch as needed and very polite and helpful. Would definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone!
The property was nestled in the Dorset countryside not too far from the coast and close to the local attractions. It was a really nice apartment - clean, comfy, spacious with everything we needed. Evie the host was really friendly and welcoming
Dorchester
Great breakfast every day, very friendly staff. Hotel location on the high street meant everything in town was within walking distance, and Dorchester’s central location in Dorset made it easy to get to other places we wanted to visit.
Good breakfast with extra touches e.g. unlimited tea, toast, juice. Great location to explore west Dorset, Staff excellent, polite & so attentive. Just a unique special hotel.
Great base for travelling around Dorset. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean throughout the hotel and comfortable pleasant rooms. Places to eat and drink nearby
Dorchester
Architecture and layout very original, lots of separate seating areas. Evening meal very good. Location ideal for exploring Dorset, free parking.
