Porto Alegre is a big city with a felling of small town.
Porto Alegre is a big city with a felling of small town. Lots of green areas, parks and squares. The shopping malls are huge. The traffic is not bad, just avoid to go out at rush hour. The main food is bbq (gaucho stye) and has steakhouses all you can eat with a reasonable price everywhere around the city.

Porto Alegre is full of potential.
Porto Alegre is full of potential. However, I did not feel real safe walking by myself in some areas. On Sunday afternoon, I met a local who spoke English. She said my feelings were correct and that I needed to be VERY aware of who was around me. The town itself has an enormous amount of wonderful, old architectural beauties to behold. If you are traveling through this area, a one-day stop is sufficient.

Compared to Salvador, Recife or Rio Porto Alegre has not so much to offer. There are some museums worth a short visit, there is the botanical garden and the Orla do Guaiba, the promenade/beach at the river, where it is especially nice to go to see the sunset. I think three days are enough.
A fourth day can be spent in Gramado and Canela to the waterfall Cascata do Caracol.

the worst part is the city airport connecting flight which is Lima Peru the worst most terrible airport in the world included the working personnel of the airport and the Avianca airline as well. in addition you can buy snitching to drink or eat because is a robbery. An example a little can of domestic beer they charge 7 dollars and a little pack of potato chips 5 dollars. if you can avoid Avianca airlines connecting in Lima Peru , do it , you will thanks me
Lovely staff, good hotel facilities. The hotel is in two parts, ist not just a colonial style house, it has a 7 storey addition to the back. Good pool area on the rooftop also a gym. Breakfast buffet was very varied and the restaurant was adequate. The staff were very helpful and professional including one woman who spoke excellent English which helped us. Near to some restaurants, walkable from the city centre if you like walking.
We chose this hotel because we needed to catch a flight early the next day. The location was perfect. Close to the metro, some markets and restaurants. It was very simple, but adequate for packing up and a good night's rest. The staff let us use the breakfast space and electric kettle for our supper snack.
We stayed here for the marathon. I appreciated that the hotel started breakfast at 3AM on marathon morning, so that we were able to get breakfast before the race. There are lots of good restaurants in the area. Definitely get the yaki soba at the Japanese restaurant across the street.
Room good large but need improvement , central air conditioning system is not working properly. Room very hot. If opening windows all traffic voices inside in your room. I never stay this hotel due to air conditioning system
Hotel is directly opposite bus station which is very convenient if arriving or leaving by bus.
Breakfast buffet is good and has a lactose free table which is great.
Staff were friendly and attentive.
The room was quite spacious and clean. The cleaning team was gentle and very competent. Comfortable bed, good Wi-Fi and nice view. The hotel is pretty close to bars, restaurants and supermarkets.
It was a beautiful stay, considering the situation that the city is suffering right now due to the floods and heavy rains. The hotel staff was very helpful and we didn't have any issues at all.
Great apartments in a good location of Porto Alegre. It has a mini kitchenette which is convenient. and the pool is nice in summer. The staff is very polite. We had a great stay.
loved the hotel and the location. it’s really beautiful. i just that the bathroom could use a bit of bleach and scrubbing 😅. but anyway… I’m gonna come back.
Nothing the next door building was making loud noise and music until 2 am, called front desk and they did nothing, the hotel smells bad, the shower very old
