Quinta Manhas Douro, hotel in Provesende

Offering an outdoor swimming pool with sweeping Douro Valley views, Quinta Manhas Douro is surrounded by nature and also features a restaurant.

Wonderful place in a pieceful location. Loved the pool area and the sunny terrace. Very kind staff, willing to listen and accommodate any request they could. We were allowed to use the pool before and after checkin. The room we had was a bit small, but both mattress and pillow really comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were tasty and fresh.

The hosts were amazing. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and enjoyinging ourselves. Her breakfasts are delicious. Make sure you go with a big appetite! And the pool was very refreshing. I truly cannot think of one negative thing to say. (Except my husband would say the bed was too hard.) I would gladly return. If I could give 6 stars, I would. The photos don't do this lovely place justice.

Casa do Santo - Wine & Tourism, hotel in Provesende

Casa do Santo - Wine & Tourism enjoys a location in Provesende, 8.1 miles from Natur Waterpark and 23 miles from Douro Museum.

Everything. The history. The grounds. The peace. But most of all was the team. Maria and her team were amazing (even Baco). The views were incredible and it made it very difficult to leave after three days. I got a bit of a stomach issue during my stay (NOTHING to do with the hotel) and were so kind to give me peppermint tea and fruit to help settle. If you get a chance, ask about the history of the village. The family that owns this has a great great great grandfather that literally saved the Duoro Valley…I will let them tell it. The wine there was so good. We had two bottles during our stay and grabbed two more to take with us when we left. It was so peaceful and dreamy and I cannot WAIT to come back.

Hotel Rural da Quinta do Silval, hotel in Provesende

Located in the famous Douro Valley, a region known for its rural charm and exquisite wines, this hotel offers stunning views of the surrounding hills, the vineyards, and the Pinhão River.

Everything! Best location/view in the Douro. We wish we would have eaten dinner at the hotel instead of at Bom Fim (though this was very nice). The views and staff are wonderful. We wish we would have stayed longer. Highly highly recommend!

Quinta Nova Winery House - Relais & Châteaux, hotel in Provesende

Sitting in 120 hectares of Douro Valley vineyards, this traditional manor house has been converted into Portugal’s first wine hotel.

Luxurious stay with phenomenal views of the Douro River and Valley. Breakfast with fresh fruit, cheeses, meats, yogurt, grains, juices, pastries, bread, coffee, tea was wonderful. The terraces permitted and encouraged relaxing and tranquil lounging. Rooms were clean, generally well-furnished, with spa-like bathrooms. The staff were particularly helpful with our day touring arrangements, making dinner reservations for us in Pinhao.

It is a very small town.

It is a very small town. We didn’t find anywhere to have dinner but snacks and drinks were great in the little local bar. I don’t know the village history but there are a lot of derelict buildings there. It is definitely not a flash town but the locals in the bar were very friendly.

    Provesende is wine country.

Provesende is wine country. Beautiful, winding and mountainous. We stayed at a vineyard, 20 min to reach by taxi. All in all the taxi drivers played guide and it was worth the $80.00 euros for 4 trips return through the mountains. The view from our "cabana" type accommodation was great. The accommodation was like a hotel room. The wine tour was the best we had in Portugal. we got to understand the history of the vineyards, taste great ports and olive oil. PS: the wine tour included a 45 mins ride on the Douro river. The tapas and beer served in the bars around the train station ware excellent. A 2 night stay is worth the memories I believe that taxis is the best way to get around

This is a country village with minimal tourist opportunities. The Quinta do Manhas Duoro is outstanding and makes up for what may be missing in the village. Great scenery. Amazing views. Wonderful wine. You've got to have a car to get here and sometimes the roads are a bit scary!

We only scheduled ourselves a day and a half to explore this area before heading to the Sera de Estrela region, which was a mistake. The area has so much to offer that we could have spent 3-4 days and still not have been able to fit it all in. We definitely plan to return!

    A tiny and unspoiled town.

A tiny and unspoiled town. Not much going on in the off-season but a lovely place to stroll and explore. Magnificent views over the very-steep vineyards of the Pinhao river. We were the only car, and very-obviously-tourists, driving through the main square, with the men playing cards in the local store, the women chatting as they walked along. Incredibly quiet and peaceful place.

Quiet little town we passed through on our way to the Hotel, Quinta Manhas Douro. We stopped at the pizza restaurant (not just pizza!) for delicious homemade soup and fresh bread. The Hotel was situated high up the adjacent mountain - and we wound our up and up with fabulous views. Great Hotel, as long as you have the superior room with the terrace.. stunning view over the village below and the mountains from the window and the terrace. Fabulous breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff.
