Hotel Rural da Quinta do Silval, hotel in Pinhão

Located in the famous Douro Valley, a region known for its rural charm and exquisite wines, this hotel offers stunning views of the surrounding hills, the vineyards, and the Pinhão River.

Everything! Best location/view in the Douro. We wish we would have eaten dinner at the hotel instead of at Bom Fim (though this was very nice). The views and staff are wonderful. We wish we would have stayed longer. Highly highly recommend!

Quinta Nova Winery House - Relais & Châteaux, hotel in Pinhão

Sitting in 120 hectares of Douro Valley vineyards, this traditional manor house has been converted into Portugal’s first wine hotel.

Luxurious stay with phenomenal views of the Douro River and Valley. Breakfast with fresh fruit, cheeses, meats, yogurt, grains, juices, pastries, bread, coffee, tea was wonderful. The terraces permitted and encouraged relaxing and tranquil lounging. Rooms were clean, generally well-furnished, with spa-like bathrooms. The staff were particularly helpful with our day touring arrangements, making dinner reservations for us in Pinhao.

Casa De Casal De Loivos, hotel in Pinhão

Casa de Casal de Loivos offers intimate accommodations in a 17th-century manor house. It features an outdoor pool and a sun terrace, both providing stunning Douro Valley views.

The casa was in an amazing location high in the hills of The Douro. The view from our room and terrace was unmatched anywhere else in this region. I felt like we had an authentic Portuguese experience with Bernardo, our host whose family has run this winery and property for many centuries! The family heirlooms including period clothing were salvaged and on display. The house is beautifully renovated yet retains its old world charm with a formal dining room. We especially enjoyed meeting and dining with for two nights fellow travelers from all corners of the globe. The dinners were 4 courses which were quite filling and price was reasonable for what you get. They were able to accommodate my gluten allergy. The setting felt intimate and personalized with the ability to socialize with guests. We loved spending time at the pool and terrace with wine and appetizers available during the day. There is a cute olive oil museum for oil and wine tasting right next door. Bernardo arranged a private boat ride on the Douro river which was a highlight of our trip. He also arranged a taxi for us to get down to Pinhao town and you can easily get a taxi to come back to the casa for quite a nominal price. Our room led directly on to the terrace with million dollar views. We will remember this experience for a long time to come.

It is a small town in a beautiful setting. The solar boat ride was really nice - we went in the late afternoon when most of the boat traffic had settled down. There are at least four wineries where tasting is possible (although we didn't participate). We really enjoyed the restaurant Cozinha da Clara just outside of the village - they served the best pork we had ever eaten. The Vintage House has a lot of character and is a lovely place to stay.

Pinhao is a great town to based in Douro Valley.

Pinhao is a great town to based in Douro Valley. There are tons of wineries and restaurants on the town level to walk to and also up in the hills. You can come to Pinhao by train from Porto easily and then walk or take cabs to get to wineries. Don’t leave without taking a private or group boat trip for amazing scenery. If you take the train from Pinhao to,the last stop going east and then turn around and return to Pinhao this has beautiful views too. We loved staying at Casa do Casal de Loivos (it is up in the hills but a 10 euro cab ride will take you into town). The view from there are unmatched. We also loved staying one night at Casa De La Rosa, which has an amazing restaurant and beautiful terrace with a swimming pool. You can walk into Pinhao town from Casa De La Rosa so it is a convenient location.

I recommend staying at least a night at Douro hostel, a home away from home (and honestly the best hostel I've ever stayed in, more like a guest house). Staying a night will give you the time you need to explore the hills, vineyards. Make sure to pop into the local butcher for some incredible cured pork and cheese!

We drove to Pinhão. The roads are slightly terrifying but the views are spectacular. We were there in March so not everything was open. Best restaurant was Writers Place! The walking trails through the vineyards were fantastic!

The perfect spot to explore some of the lovely Quintas the Douro Valley has to offer. Would definitely recommend Pinhao as your base. We drove to Pinhao from Porto which was great for sight seeing and super easy. We visited the three Quintas that are within walking distance from Pinhao train station which were lovely. I’d recommend making a reservation in advance for dinners or lunch where possible. But we also did a few walk ins.

Pinhao is stunning. with good selection of restaurants in the evening. Beautiful wineries. As the wineries are built into cliffs the drive to Pinhao and around is not for the faint hearted. The roads are very narrow some without safety barriers. However if you can get past this it is worth it for the scenary. It is a sleepy village but everyone is so friendly. One or two days maximum is enough.

The 2 bedroom apartment is vast and has a small balcony with a view of the Rio Pinhão. The beds are comfortable and Ana has made sure that we have everything we need to make our stay pleasant. The fridge and freezer were well supplied, we had a surprize cheese plate awaiting us, hot, fresh bread every morning, an extensive list of things to do in the area. Ana was kind enough to help me with suggestions for a special restaurant for Valentine's Day. There's also a washing machine. We're staying here again if we return!

Our hostess Isabel and her family were wonderful. Very welcoming to make sure we were comfortable. Many special touches-soap, bathgel, coffee, water, cozy towels . The swimming pool terrace with sweeping views of the river and scenic landscape was a stunning surprise bonus. Best view in all of Pinhao. The family operates as a B&B with breakfast basket delivered. Isabel also turned on hot tub so we could soak and take in the starry night view. Apartment 2 is small but well organized. Accommodated 3 friends.

Amazing hosts. Pedro and Sarah go the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable. Starting with the welcome drink and suggestions of what to see with maps. Really clean, and lovely calm spaces including a rooftop deck and garden area. Excellent facilities. Quiet location and walking distance to everything in the town. There were things provided for breakfast and tea/coffee. Great kitchen area. I would definitely recommend a visit to Pinhao just to stay in this hostel 👍

We loved everything about this hotel. The location is spectacular, as are the views! We loved the balconies for reading and looking over the river. The pool was a lovely refreshing activity after hot hikes and wine tasting. The old building was charming, and we enjoyed some family game time in the Library Bar. The staff was helpful with anything we needed. The food was delicious (especially the breakfast!)

Nothing. We weren’t able to stay there. The property in no accessible. My partner is handicapped and there was no parking on the property or on the street anywhere near the property. It’s NOT a three Starr property. The owned still hasn’t answered my emails. Very dissatisfied with this booking. We ended up stay at another hotel for the evening.

Modern with beautiful views and a pool to cool off in the heat! Staff are friendly and accomodating, offered to let us keep our bags at the property before checking in and after checking out. A 10 minute walk into Pinhão but very walkable and nice to be a little bit out of the busy town. Price reflects the cost of visiting the area!

This is an exceptionally clean and well cared for place, a short walk from the train station in Pinhão. The kitchen is very well equipped, including bottled water, butter, jam, milk, cereal, tea and coffee. I was so surprised to receive breakfast each morning! Tânia was a very responsive host and very helpful with my questions.
