The bathtub was glorious. TVs and Netflix throughout (which my 12 year old appreciated). Wifi good. There was a pool table, formal dining area, lovely kitchen, and laundry. I will definitely stay again.

Stayed at Sleep&Go one night while on the Caminho. The place is super clean with great washrooms showers kitchen common room and pool. It was raining so I didn’t use the pool. Tina the host is warm and kind. I would recommend to anyone along the Caminho. It’s exceptional value.

All the good restaurants are outside Esponsende - mainly in Apulia. A nice little hike or short taxi ride. Bridge to Fao needs some TLC, at least if you walk over it. Fantastic views, but the rusty bits on the footpath high above the water are somewhat anxiety-inducing (and I even heard that from experienced Camino walkers ...) Would not walk over a second time ...

Esposende was one of the best places to stay that we have had on this trip for the Camino de Santiago. The people that run the hotel are wonderful and very friendly. Everything is very clean and they have a great lounge with a good kitchen to make what you want. I would recommend them and their rooms to anyone going to that area.

We thought everybody had left town.
We thought everybody had left town. The whole place was strangely quiet and deserted. We struggled to find an open place to eat. It was early September. A lot of derelict buildings.
Just about good enough for a one night Camino stopover.

We are an elderly couple who have been to the area many times since 1975 and never tire of it. It has not suffered overdevelopment like many other resorts. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the food and laid back style . The surrounding area such as Ponte de Lima is superb so a car enhances the experience.

Esposende is a nice little town and a cool spot for kitesurfing. When I was there it was quiet and relaxing. I couldn't find amazing places for lunch or dinner actually, but some nice local patisseries instead. Having said that, there is some offer, just not to the level I was hoping. The coast is nice, the wind strong, people are nice too, and it is very close to other nice towns in the north of Portugal

Very nice place with nice sea and the special cakes from Fao. If you are in Esposende you have definitely to go to get some "Clarinhas de Fão". Fão is on the south bank of the river. You can find them in a very small "pastelaria".
Delighted with our stay in Marinhas. A modern hotel with big, bright rooms and good size beds. Great size toilet and shower too. The view of the countryside and river is beautiful - we arrived at sunset which was stunning to see. Great to have a balcony to sit out in and enjoy all of that. Staff very friendly and breakfast fine. Really good value for money. On camino route, for those who would enjoy a relaxing night's stay. Bustops near if required. .
Appears modest from the outside but don't be put off... inside the hotel is well-appointed and well-maintained. You only know they have staff by the spic-and-span level of cleanliness and the well-appointed rooms. High-value for a low price; my single was large enough that it had an entry hallway between the bedroom and bathroom. Modern bathroom done in marble; large bedroom with desk and double closet with a lovely view of an open meadow.
Indira and her father are super kind hosts. Indira even drove me to the bus terminal in Esposende on the day of my departure.
The hostel is quite new, located in a quiet area and comprises a garden where you can enjoy the meals.
The double room I booked was nice and clean, the bed comfortable.
The wonderful sand beach can be reached on foot in about 20 minutes.
All in all a hostel I can really recommend Hostel do Alto Fao.
The house and the garden is lovely and just 4 minutes to a brilliant sandy beach. Salvador is very attentive and wants everyone to have a great holiday.Esposende is a great low key resort with good bars and restaurants. Lots of beautiful towns to visit in the area and of course Porto is just down the coast, plus outlet shopping for those that need a shopping fix.
I newer guesthouse in Esposende. Clean , modern and well run. An absolute delight. We had a family room with three beds, nice linens and a lovely shower. Walking distance to great restaurants. Breakfast in the morning which is included is exceptional and a good place to meet other pilgrims should you choose to do so. exceptional value.
I booked a hotel by mistake from Thursday to Friday
And when I called to ask for some solution of this problem, the hotel said that there is nothing they could do, as they have already charged full price!
But they even haven’t called me yesterday when I haven’t arrived because I planned to do it today
Worst experience
We visited this hotel while completing the Portuguese Camino from Porto to Santiago de Compostela.
This is a pleasant hotel, perfectly situated for the arduous trip we were completing. Most importantly, the staff, from the front desk to the hotel manager, we excellent - helpful in every way.
This was a beautiful guest house, a real oasis just steps from the Camino trail. The room was bright, spacious and well appointed. Anita went well above and beyond in making sure her guests had everything they needed. And she is a fantastic cook! I highly recommend staying here.
We were maybe the only ones staying at the hotel as it was offseason. We ate an excellent meal at the restaurant across the street. Breakfast at our hotel was very good. Our hostess was delightful and explained a little about the family history. I loved staying here.
Everything was just perfect. The room was very nice and very clean, the staff was so nice to me and I just felt very comfortable and welcome after my hike on the caminho. Can‘t believe to get to stay in such a nice hotel for that good price.
A really cool hotel with great ambience. The rooms are clean and fresh. There is a very well equipped kitchen if you want to self-cater rather than eat out. Very close to the seafront on a quiet residential street.
Exceptionally clean. Quiet. Central location. Staff very helpful. Conveniently close to river and ocean beaches. Wry close to Ecovia Litoral North hiking and biking trail. Best kitesurfing in Portugal!
We loved the two nights we stayed here. It has charme and is different than other hotels. The staff was very friendly. Quiet place with a lovely garden & pool area.
