Hot air ballon and Derinkuyu underground city are must. Göreme open air museum OK . Local tours are very expensive instead use local buses to visit places . Local food is very bland- if you prefer spicy food - service at restaurants is very slow . Local buses are excellent and intercity buses too Air journey from SAW to Kayseri was very unsatisfying as the seats on the plane were too tiny with no leg space and luggage space was limited. Shuttle service from airport to Göreme was excellent, we had booked our seats through viator app.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Goreme. We took the red and green tours - highly recommended. The green tour involves a bit of walking. We are walkers, so this was good. The highlight of the two tours was the underground city - on the green tour. You will have many photo opportunities on these tours! If you decide to go on a balloon ride, you can be back at your hotel in time for the red or green tour.The balloon ride, amid scores of other balloons was both serene and majestic - and very efficiently managed, from hotel pickup to hotel drop off at the end. We booked our balloon ride for the first day of our four day trip. This was to allow for possible cancellations due to weather conditions. The balloon ride was, in fact, cancelled on the first day. Luckily, we were able to take it on the second day. Travel to and from the airport is efficient. Just book a shuttle bus through your hotel. It only costs €10 per person. We enjoyed wandering around the town, sampling the food, and doing a bit of shopping. It was fun! We H3 times at the Old Cappadocia restaurant. It has an indoor eating area with a wood fire which is great in the colder weather.Aveling - Scored 1010
In Goreme there are many fun activities one can do like...
In Goreme there are many fun activities one can do like horse riding, ATV ride in the valley. Hot air balloon ride is one of the lifetime experience. There are many good restaurants with reasonable prices and good taste. It is very easy to reach Goreme, the most affordable choice is overnight bus services from Istanbul. With young children aged under 6 will have some issues in doing activities together. So if someone is travelling with young kids please make sure you have enough days to stay so that both partners can do activities separately.

Lovely little town.
Lovely little town. Having read reviews that it’s very touristy we were slightly concerned but need not have been. It’s super friendly, clean and great variety of fab restaurants. Excellent location for taking tours and easy to take the local bus to other towns. The location is amazing. Fairy chimneys and caves galore within walking distance. We thought before we got there that Goreme might be too...
We thought before we got there that Goreme might be too touristy for us but we were glad we stayed there. There are good hotel options, it is the center of most of the sites we wanted to see and explore, we found restaurants that were high quality, and its surroundings are amazing. We stayed away from the busy part of town and found it quiet. And Cappadocia was wonderful. While there are some similarities with the American Southwest as far as landscape, the area is still unique as far as topography. And the balloon ride over the formations and valleys was breathtaking.Peck - Scored 1010
