We had a great stay. The breakfast at the Alantara was really excellent - we had the Indonesian options every day and they were delicious. The free afternoon tea was a lovely addition. We loved lazing by the pool and using the outdoor shower in our room. We also slept really well as the bed was extremely comfortable. The hotel organised scooters for us and a transport to the airport very efficiently, and all the staff were very friendly.

Bali’s oldest beach resort retains its reputation as a glamorous alternative to nearby Kuta. The coastline of Sanur has a long stretch of white sand lined with restaurants and bars. It is tailor made for chic clientele or families wanting to relax in an exclusive resort or villa without the need to party into the wee hours.
Sanur is also a popular day trip destination for tourists staying in Kuta looking to do some water sports. There are many companies offering diving along its submerged outer reef, jet skiing on top of its blue waters or paragliding in the cool breezes above this ocean paradise.
The shoreline features a cycle path that is also perfect for walking and jogging. At its very northern tip is the ferry terminal that offers boat trips to Nusa Lembongan, a small island off the southeast coast of Bali that is famous for its laid-back atmosphere.
Sanur has its fair share of markets providing an impressive range of artistic handicrafts such as wood carvings and batik paintings. Best of these are the Sindhu Market and the daytime beachfront market.
Sanur is the closest beach to the island’s capital, Denpasar, with its many temples and museums. Booking.com has a range of hotels along Sanur Beach or close to Ngurah International Airport, also known as Denpasar International Airport.

Sanur is a much more traditional resort with many buildings in the local architecture. Beautiful gates to properties abound and the cycle/walk way that runs from Mertasari beach to the ferry port right along the sea front is great. Bikes are easy and cheap to hire from many places and the area is flat. Having the reef nearby makes for interesting viewing when the tide goes out and there are plenty of sea activities to take part in. Restaurants and bars abound, so much choice, so little time!! It has a chilled and less hectic ambience than other places a few miles away.

Lovely little shops.
Lovely little shops. Art, fashion, jewellery and the usual touristy “stuff”. Plenty of places for a coffee, lots of bars and restaurants. Starting to get busy but nowhere near the frantic pace of Kuta and Legian. We didn’t visit the new Icon shopping mall but everyone is certainly talking about it. We did all our “basic” shopping at Hardys.
We would recommend eating out along the boardwalk. Much quieter than the Main Street with lots of beautiful restaurants.
Overall a fantastic place to stay and it has managed to retain some of that elusive “Old Bali” feel especially beach side.

Lots of great restaurants and shops and spas along the main street and beach. Just make sure you take note of high tide to maximise the time you spend on the beach as it is very low tide when it goes out.

Our favourite place was our private villa with the swimming pool - it really is a luxury to be in a place that has such great weather where you can enjoy a pool in October.
The beach is good although we would have liked to have known which spots are the best for swimming/walking/chilling out etc. Probably my favourite experience was biking on the promenade in the early morning before it gets packed. You get to see a decent section of the beach and notice things you won't notice when the place is busy like the turtle sanctuary.
I recommend getting Grab or Gojek (both like Uber) for easy and economical rides. It was our first time in Bali so we weren't game enough to hire scooters or a car. The drivers really are impressive and courtesy reins in the narrow side streets packed with cars, scooters and dogs :-)
One thing we didn't like was the market sellers following you around trying to get you to buy things. Asking is fine - following you down the walkway harassing you or arguing with you when you ask them to leave you alone is not!! The only way to avoid this would be avoid going to the beachside market areas - it tainted my experience of visiting Sanur Beach. We also stayed in Ubud and I found the market sellers there much better - still keen for you to buy things off them but not aggressive.

Very nice spot. A lot of local bars, restaurants etc.
Very nice spot. A lot of local bars, restaurants etc. I will come back to this place. Not that far away from Denpasar airport and plenty of things to visit within an hour driving. Do not drive by yourself, grab a taxi. Get a Bali massage in one of the local spots, not on the beach. And please, when you order some foode please take it not to spicy!

Sanur is a quaint part of Bali.
Sanur is a quaint part of Bali. It has lovely beaches and enough shops to relax and have Lunch/Dinner. It has a major Shopping Centre ICON Bali which although quite nice, might detract from the 'vibe' of Sanur.

We loved everything about our stay - from the location, to the lovely staff. Our villa was everything we had hoped it would be - nice and private, but with the convenience of a hotel ie breakfast was delivered to us so we could eat it on the deck by our pool, and when I accidentally locked myself out I was able to got to reception and have someone let me in straight away.
I would definitely recommend Villa Mahapala to my friends and family, and would stay there again if we ever return to Sanur.
The pool. It is large and clean. They have a seperate kids pool area, and it looked very good for young families. Fantastic beach area with sun lounges. Towels available for both pool and beach. Beautiful staff at the hotel. Great entertainment on the beach on different nights. Good availability of restaurants. Breakfast is buffet and has a good selection of food for everyone. Location at Sanur is really good.
Perfectly clean and functional villa with comfy beds! Staff were lovely and breakfast was great too. We were a little worried about the size of the pool before hand but it was just perfect for our young kids and they absolutely loved swimming in it. Would definitely recommend Hotel Jati too all and will book here again when back in Sanur. Great value for money and thank you for having us 😊 Terima kashi!
Peneeda View Beach Hotel had a great beachfront location in Sanur. Easy walking distance to all restaurants, cafes, bars & shops. Great older Balinese style of Villas.
