On arrival, after a long drive and arriving at about 5pm, we were given the keys to a room, only to find it had not been made up, towels on floor, bed rumpled etc. We were given the choice of sitting in the bar waiting for the room to be made up or moving to another room. We chose the latter. In the morning we had to shower in tepid water as there was no hot. The Manager offered us the use of another room to get hot water, but it was too late. We were told on our departure that he would let his superior know of our problems and she would be in touch with us, we have heard nothing.
We just had breakfast, lukewarm coffee, everything else was okay.
We have stayed at The White Hart at least 6 times in the past, watching standards drop, we won't be staying there again

Small but not very pretty town with some quirky shops and a few cafes, restaurants and bars, including a Wetherspoons. On main line railway station -a 6 minute train journey to Par and it's beach. 3 major supermarkets on the ring road a short drive from centre. it was a good central location for me as the hills that I wanted to walk in Cornwall were all within an hours drive in any direction.

Unfortunately St Austell is suffering the same as a lot of other towns and high streets and is run down with a lot of closed shops.
It was also chucking it down with rain so probably not the best time to see it.
If you are in the area recommend eating at the the Holmbush Inn. Great food and a lovely atmosphere.

We did not really look around St Austell itself but it looked lovely from the car. We specifically went there because it was central to The Eden Project and The Heligan gardens which was our reason for visiting. I will say though the drivers there have incredible road etiquette which was lovely. I think we will visit again as we enjoyed our stay there very much

St Austell is an amazing place.
St Austell is an amazing place. Easily accessible if you don’t have a car as the bus and train station are just outside the town centre. It is not the hustle and bustle of bigger towns but it has hidden gems, beautiful parks and everything you could need

Site some way outside St. Austell. Nice area.
Site some way outside St. Austell. Nice area. Easy to get down to St. Maws and take a foot ferry across to Falmouth that saves the drive and the hassell of finding parking. St Austell is not my most liked town but below it is the Roseland peninsula that has many hidden coves and beaches.

I've been to St Austell many times, it's a good location to travel around Cornwall. Some shops in the town centre have closed but you can still buy what you want, We had dogs with us, we found a dog friendly cafe in the town centre. Plenty of places to eat in the area eg Wetherspoons, The Ship (Par), The Holmbush. For beach, it's near to Carlyon Bay and Par Sands.

Lots of high end products in room but for just one night they’re probably not so necessary.
Very Comfortable bed which was the best. Lovely staff. Nice food. Great view from tables outside hotel on their terrace. Perfect atmosphere. Available free parking up the road.
Charlestown hasn’t really changed. Still cute and has a feel of being preserved now as a living museum so at least it hasn’t been redeveloped in an unsympathetic way.
The hotel was perfectly situated for an event on Carlyon Bay - the facilities were great and we enjoyed using the spa and the outdoor pool! Sea view from the room was great and nothing was too much to ask from the staff - all very welcoming
clean, tidy & the couple who own it are lovely. the beds were super comfortable! amenities were fab. for a small hotel it was comfortably running alongside the Carlyon Bay hotel in its efforts!
