Friendly staff, good food and the most spectacular location. My favourite Newquay hotel.
Perched high on Newquay's Pentire Headland, Pentire Hotel sits between Fistral Beach and the Gannel Estuary. The hotel has wonderful views, a modern leisure centre and free Wi-Fi.

I was really impressed that in spite of thinking I had booked a basic single room I was given a double room. My room was nice and the extra facility of a shower over bathtub rather than just a shower cubicle meant that I had the option to take a bath if I needed a soak after a day out walking around. My only complaint with the rooms is I wish the wardrobes were proper with doors rather than open hanging rails. Also I had the option to grab lots of extra milk and teabags from reception.
I really like the cooked breakfast at the hotel and that they are very accommodating to requests for various combinations of the breakfast. I have to rate the sausages for being much nicer than the ordinary catering sausages found in some establishments. They also had a good selection of teas and the option of decaf coffee at breakfast. I can't comment on the cereal selection as I didn't look. I like the fact that there are so many jams, preserves and spreads on offer to go on to bread/toast.
My room looked out over the car park and streets opposite so not the most exciting, but being a floor higher than where I normally find myself I could see over into the Gannel and farther countryside. The view doesn't particularly bother me as I am not spending hours in my room.

Newquay has that laidback feel that goes hand in hand with being England’s undisputed surfing capital. The centre of the action is Fistral Beach whose swells and Cribbar Reef produce some of the largest breakers in the British Isles. The long, sandy beach is backed by tall dunes which give way to Newquay Golf Club.
Great Western Beach lies below sheer cliffs one street from the train station, while Towan Beach by the picturesque harbour is the closest to the town centre. Tolcarne Beach is sheltered in its own bay, as is the wide stretch of sand at Porth Beach whose northern coastline is 2 rocky headlands joined by a narrow footbridge over the sea.
Each beach is overlooked by luxury hotels with spas, cheap hostels and self-catering apartments on Booking.com. All are surrounded by Newquay’s restaurants, bars and clubs which offer the best nightlife this side of Bristol.
More leisurely pursuits include Trerice manor house in the countryside near the Lappa Valley Steam Railway. Buccaneer Bay and the Blue Reef Aquarium are popular with families, as are Waterworld and Newquay Zoo within Trenance Gardens.
Another favoured spot for a walk are the salt marshes by the River Gannel which is a prominent sight as you descend into Newquay Cornwall Airport.

Newquay is an ideal holiday destination for all age groups. The local beaches are a massive attraction regardless of the weather. It's the first "dog-tolerant" town I have ever visited. Dog owners in Newquay are responsible owners.

Great choice of attractions, such as the Newquay Zoo and Blue Reef Aquarium, plus the Lighthouse Cinema and Land Theatre. A short distance away is the National Trust property, Trerice and a little further Lanhydrock, both well worth a visit. We would also recommend a trip to the Eden Project just beyond St. Austell which is a powerhouse of environmental education!

Everything about Longbeach was amazing. the location was perfect so close to the beach and town centre. The rooms were just what we needed and the price was so good.
on top of that the drinks prices were ridiculously cheap and by far the cheapest in Newquay.
Andrew was a phenomenal host and provided us with lots of info on the area and walking routes to take. He was always there to help out and chat to.
Couldn’t recommend this place any more!
The couple who ran it were marvellous and quite sociable. The breakfast was good, something that is disappearing
from many small hotels The bed was very comfortable and in that respect it was good. They also had a small bar which was a good touch, these things in small hotels are nearly extinct. It was nice chatting just before bedtime by the bar.
The location is quiet and not central to Newquay town centre, but the scenery is excellent.
Great stay at Oceanside - all staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful, bar is lovely to sit in day or night, breakfast was nice and served fast, great location with Fistral beach and Newquay centre only short walks from the hotel.
Wonderful sea views from the spacious bedroom and bathroom, very clean and quiet hotel, a lift that works, nice location a few minutes walk from the centre of Newquay,.
