Ivy House Country Hotel, hotel in Lowestoft

Enjoy a tranquil Broadside setting and beautiful country gardens at this hotel hidden away at the end of a leafy driveway.

Whenever I am in Oulton Broad/Lowestoft I stay at the Ivy, and have done so for a number of years. The location next to the Broads is restful, the rooms are excellent. and the staff are super friendly. Generally, I don't eat in Hotel restaurants, but I make an exception at the Ivy. Having the same menu in either a formal dining, or a relaxed dining area is awesome. The food has always been good, I've met the chef (Owner) and he produces good food every time.

The Coach House Suffolk, hotel in Lowestoft

Located in over 2 acres of gardens, close to the Suffolk Coast, The Coach House Suffolk is ideally located for exploring both Norfolk and Suffolk to the South.

GREAT LOCATION: -Just on the outskirts of the town we were visiting - Lowestoft. -Adjacent to Carlton Marshes, which is a great place to run/walk and/or birdwatch or simply nature hike - all the way to Oulton Broad or Beccles actually. So, hotel would be a great base for hikers and/or twitchers! -Also next door to the East Anglian Transport Museum - a very underrated place to visit. LOVELY BUILDING: -I remember this as Hedley House from 35 or so years ago. New owners have done a really nice job in restoring the charming character of this building. It is nicely appointed, comfortable and warm. -Rooms were nicely appointed, even with no aircon. NICE STAFF: Small and friendly staff - from check in through to the restaurant, which served up really nice food. The breakfast was super, and well worth it.

The Peels B&B, hotel in Lowestoft

Located in North Lowestoft, The Peels B&B offers free Wi-Fi throughout and free onsite parking. It is just 20 minutes’ walk from Lowestoft Beach.

Wow, what a find. There is only one room so you felt like you were part of the family. The breakfast was huge and delicious., with great gluten free rolls for my wife. This was a real B&B experience. You need to drive everywhere but everything is very convenient. Our hosts were wonderful and we viewed and had access to their incredible garden. We would absolutely stay there again.

I like the beach and promenade the most, you can go for nice long walks and/or paddle along the beach. There are plenty of places to rest and have a drink or something to eat. It's lovely swimming in the sea, I like swimming near the South Pier best as you don't get the currents like you do on the other beaches.

Lowestoft is quieter out of season, but still has plenty of attractions for visitors, like restaurants, cafés, pubs, Dinky Town for younger children, sandy beaches, Sparrows Nest, Africa Alive, play areas, etc.

Lowestoft is quirky with some interesting sights and shops but other parts which appear in decline or unexploited. As an example, a major claim to fame - the most easterly point - is hard to find. The promenade along the south beach is very long and would seem ideal for a mini train. As it is there is no transport.. A highlight for us was to see the road bridge raised to allow a boat into the harbour. As a warning to anyone planning a long weekend, many of the specialist shops stay closed on Mondays - as my daughter and I found to our cost.

    Enjoyed Oulton Broad.

Enjoyed Oulton Broad. Had a lovely trip on the Waveney Princess . Captain had lots of local knowledge her commentary was most interesting. Didn't like Lowestoft Town and area at all very busy traffic seemed a bit chaotic unless you are a fan of one ways and traffic lights.

We stayed in Oulton broad mainly to watch the last of the seasons powerboat racing. I chosse the Wherry as it is in a great location. There are also some other good pubs and restaraunts in the immediate area. Im not so keen on lowestoft but worth a short visit especially if you have kids and there is pleanty to do in the area. Also Gt Yarmouth is not far away and again worth a visit

Hotel was in a great location with a welcoming and helpful team! Room was very comfortable and the house itself lovely had a very homely feel with all the various social/entertainment areas, feeling comfortable being able to spend time in them. Particularly liked the 3/4 snooker table that was fun! The decor and information around was fascinating and added to the history Breakfast was also very good!
